His fiancée, Emilia Torello, reported the tragic news, explaining that he was diagnosed just seven months prior, in April 2024. Teal died in a hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina.
In an emotional tribute, Emilia described Paul as “the most talented man I’ve ever met” and expressed her belief that his determination would lead him to recovery. She noted that during his illness, Paul continued to work, recently filming a new series for Starz titled The Hunting Wives, which is set to premiere next year.
Teal gained acclaim for his significant role in the seventh season of One Tree Hill and had also appeared in popular shows like Outer Banks and The Walking Dead: World Beyond. He was involved in several projects that were released this year, including Descendants: The Rise of the Red and Lilly.
His co-stars, including Bethany Joy Lenz and Sophia Bush, shared heartfelt messages following his death. Lenz, who worked closely with Teal on both One Tree Hill and a musical production of The Notebook, remembered him as a joyful presence who could “light up a room without trying.” She described the loss as profound, saying, “He was too young to die. Far too young.”
