Charli XCX Leads 2025 Brit Awards Nominations with Five Nods
The nominations for the 2025 Brit Awards have been unveiled, with Charli XCX leading the pack with five nods, including Album of the Year for Brat, Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year for Guess featuring Billie Eilish. The British pop star’s critically acclaimed album has dominated the music scene, inspiring a cultural movement dubbed “brat summer” and earning her a Mercury Prize nomination earlier this year.
Close behind are Dua Lipa, The Last Dinner Party, Ezra Collective, and Myles Smith, each securing four nominations. Dua Lipa is up for Album of the Year (Radical Optimism), Artist of the Year, and Song of the Year (Training Season). Meanwhile, The Last Dinner Party, last year’s Rising Star winners, are nominated for Album of the Year (Prelude to Ecstasy), Group of the Year, and Alternative/Rock Act. Ezra Collective, the jazz quintet and 2023 Mercury Prize winners, are also in contention for Album of the Year (Dance, No One’s Watching) and Group of the Year.
This year’s nominations also mark a historic return for The Beatles, who are up for Song of the Year with Now and Then, their first Brits nomination since 1977. The Cure, nominated for Album of the Year (Songs of a Lost World), Group of the Year, and Alternative/Rock Act, are also making a comeback after more than three decades.
In the international categories, Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, and Chappell Roan are among the top contenders. Swift and Eilish are both nominated for International Artist of the Year and International Song of the Year, while Beyoncé’s Texas Hold ‘Em and Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! are up for International Song of the Year.
The 2025 Brit Awards ceremony will take place on 1 March at London’s O2 Arena, hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall for the fifth time. The event will be broadcast live on ITV1 and ITVX. Public voting for the genre awards will open on 31 January via WhatsApp, with winners announced on the night.
