Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell have teamed up for the upcoming comedy You’re Cordially Invited, which premiered in London this week. The film, directed by Nicholas Stoller, follows the chaos that ensues when two weddings are accidentally double-booked at the same venue on an Atlanta island. Ferrell plays Jim, a widower overseeing his daughter’s wedding, while Witherspoon stars as Margot, a TV executive organising her sister’s nuptials. The pair’s characters clash as they try to salvage their respective celebrations, leading to a mix of humour and heartfelt moments.

At the London premiere, Witherspoon opted for a sleek black skirt suit with a thigh-high slit, paired with diamond earrings and classic pumps. Ferrell, meanwhile, wore a slate grey suit. The film, which also stars Geraldine Viswanathan, Meredith Hagner, and Jimmy Tatro, will be available to stream on Amazon Prime Video from 30 January.

During promotional interviews, Witherspoon shared a humorous anecdote about a past hosting disaster, revealing that an unnamed actress once refused to leave her house during a party, forcing her to turn off the lights. Ferrell, on the other hand, admitted to frequently serving undercooked food at his own gatherings.

The film marks the first collaboration between Witherspoon and Ferrell since their joint appearance on Saturday Night Live in 2001. Both actors expressed excitement about the project, with Ferrell describing it as a “rollercoaster ride” that balances comedy with emotional depth. Witherspoon, who has been focusing on producing and her Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, praised the film’s exploration of family dynamics and the pressures of weddings.
