Liverpool Extends Premier League Lead with Dominant Win Over Ipswich

Liverpool maintained their grip on the Premier League title race with a commanding 4-1 victory over Ipswich Town at Anfield, extending their lead at the top of the table to six points. Cody Gakpo starred with a brace, while Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah also found the net in a dominant first-half display. Despite a late consolation goal from Ipswich’s Jacob Greaves, the result leaves Liverpool firmly in control, with a game in hand over closest rivals Arsenal.

Arsenal, meanwhile, kept pace with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wolves at Molineux, despite playing with 10 men for much of the match after Myles Lewis-Skelly’s contentious red card. Substitute Riccardo Calafiori proved the hero with a superb half-volley in the 74th minute, securing a vital three points for Mikel Arteta’s side. Wolves, who also saw João Gomes sent off late in the game, remain in relegation trouble after a fourth consecutive defeat.

Elsewhere, Bournemouth thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0, with Dango Ouattara netting a hat-trick, while Newcastle United came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1, thanks to a double from Alexander Isak. Everton moved further clear of the drop zone with a 1-0 win at Brighton, courtesy of a penalty from Iliman Ndiaye.

At the top of the table, Liverpool now sit on 53 points, with Arsenal trailing on 47. Manchester City, who face Chelsea later on Saturday, remain in the hunt but have ground to make up. At the other end, Wolves and Ipswich are perilously close to the relegation zone, with Everton’s recent resurgence providing a glimmer of hope in their battle for survival.
