Love Island's Jack Fincham Released on Bail After Dog Incident

Love Island star Jack Fincham has been released on bail pending an appeal after being jailed for six weeks over incidents involving his dangerously out-of-control dog. The 32-year-old, who won the 2018 series of the reality show with Dani Dyer, appeared at Southend Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, where he pleaded guilty to two counts of being in charge of a dangerously out-of-control dog, one of which caused injury.

The court heard that Fincham’s black Cane Corso, named Elvis, bit a runner, Robert Sudell, in Swanley, Kent, in September 2022. Fincham was initially set to receive a caution and attend a responsible dog ownership course after Mr Sudell accepted an apology. However, a second incident occurred in Grays, Essex, in June 2023, when the dog was again out of control, leading to charges.

Presiding magistrate Anne Wade noted that Fincham was subject to a suspended sentence for an unrelated driving offence at the time of the first incident. She activated part of the suspended sentence and imposed a six-week jail term, alongside a £3,680 financial penalty, including £2,000 for kennelling costs, a £961 fine, and £200 compensation to Mr Sudell. Fincham was granted conditional bail after lodging an appeal.

The court also ordered that Fincham’s dog must be muzzled in public, kept on a lead, and not left alone with anyone under 16. Fincham, who has no savings, was told he could pay the fine in instalments of £400 per month. The case highlights the importance of responsible dog ownership, particularly with powerful breeds like the Cane Corso.
