Andrea Corr, the renowned Irish singer and member of the iconic 90s band The Corrs, was unmasked as Snail on The Masked Singer UK during a recent episode. The 50-year-old performer, known for hits like Breathless and Runaway, left the judging panel stunned as none of them correctly guessed her identity. Judges Jonathan Ross, Maya Jama, Mo Gilligan, and Davina McCall had speculated names ranging from Sugababes singer Heidi Range to Corinne Bailey Rae, but Corr’s distinctive voice and subtle clues ultimately gave her away.
Corr expressed her joy at participating in the show, stating, “I’ve had such a good time, everybody has been so lovely. It’s been really joyous. I wanted to do it for my children and my nieces and nephews and friends and just for the laugh.” She also revealed that she had kept her involvement a secret from everyone, adding to the surprise.
The Corrs, a family band consisting of Andrea and her siblings Sharon, Caroline, and Jim, rose to fame in the 90s and have sold over 40 million records worldwide. Despite the band’s hiatus in the mid-2000s, they reunited in 2015 and continue to perform, most recently supporting Shania Twain at BST Hyde Park in 2024.
Corr’s unmasking came alongside the revelation of Kingfisher as artist Sir Grayson Perry, marking a double elimination ahead of the show’s semi-final. Fans had previously speculated Corr’s identity, pointing to clues such as references to her solo album Ten Feet High and her Irish accent. Her performance of Dua Lipa’s Dance The Night sealed her place in the competition before her eventual exit.
The remaining contestants, including Wolf, Bush, Pufferfish, Dressed Crab, and Bear, will continue to compete in the hopes of being crowned the winner of The Masked Singer UK.
