Celtic Crushes Dundee with a Stunning 6-0 Victory at Parkhead

Celtic delivered a dominant performance at Parkhead, securing a resounding 6-0 victory over Dundee in a rearranged William Hill Premiership match. The game, originally scheduled for 25th January, was postponed due to severe weather damage at Celtic Park. The win restored Celtic’s 13-point lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.

Arne Engels opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a VAR review identified a shirt-pull on Auston Trusty by Dundee’s Mohamed Sylla. Adam Idah doubled the lead just before half-time, capitalising on a rebound from Jota’s shot. Daizen Maeda then stole the show in the second half, scoring twice in quick succession. His first was a powerful header from Jota’s cross, while his second was a sublime chip over Dundee goalkeeper Trevor Carson. Engels added his second with a long-range strike, and substitute Nicolas Kuhn completed the rout with a stunning effort from the corner of the box.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers praised his team’s hunger and energy, particularly highlighting Maeda’s finishing as “sublime.” Dundee manager Tony Docherty, however, expressed frustration, disputing the penalty decision and lamenting his side’s poor decision-making and defensive frailties. Dundee, who suffered back-to-back 6-0 defeats, now face a quick turnaround with an upcoming Scottish Cup fixture against Airdrieonians.

The match also saw a debut for Jeffrey Schlupp, who received a warm reception from the home crowd. Celtic’s emphatic win showcased their attacking depth, with multiple players contributing to the scoreline. The result leaves Dundee with much to ponder as they look to recover from a challenging week.
