Linda Regan, the British actress and author best known for her role as Yellowcoat April in the iconic sitcom Hi-de-Hi!, has paid a heartfelt tribute to her late husband, Brian Murphy, following his passing at the age of 92. Brian, a celebrated sitcom legend, died at his home in Kent on Sunday, 2 February 2025.
In a touching statement shared on social media, Linda wrote: “My love for you will never die. RIP sweetheart.” She also reflected on their enduring bond, saying, “I was lucky to have in my lifetime found my soulmate. Brian, who I will love forever.” The couple, who married in 1955, shared two sons and even starred together in the podcast sitcom Barmy Dale in 2023.
Brian Murphy was best known for his roles in the 1970s sitcoms Man About the House and its spin-off George and Mildred. His career began in the 1950s as a member of the pioneering Theatre Workshop, where he worked closely with director Joan Littlewood. Tributes poured in following his death, with his friend and agent Thomas Bowington describing him as a “joyful and profoundly good-hearted man.”
Linda Regan, who has also authored a series of successful crime novels, continues to be celebrated for her contributions to British television and literature. Brian is survived by Linda and their two sons.
