Gino D’Acampo Denies Allegations of Inappropriate Behaviour on TV Sets

TV chef Gino D’Acampo has denied multiple allegations of inappropriate and intimidating behaviour on the sets of TV shows he has appeared on. The claims, reported by ITV News, involve accusations from several women who described his actions as “unacceptable”, “distressing”, and “horrendous”. The allegations include aggressive behaviour and highly sexualised remarks made over a period of more than 12 years.

One woman claimed that in 2019, D’Acampo threatened a colleague over an ice cream, saying, “If you don’t get me a Cornetto I will f*** your girlfriend.” Another alleged that during a magazine shoot in 2011, he made a graphic sexual comment in front of the crew, leaving her feeling “horror” and “shock”. A third woman recounted an incident where D’Acampo allegedly opened his door in his boxer shorts during a location shoot, making inappropriate references.

In a statement, D’Acampo firmly denied the allegations, stating, “I would not do anything that I thought would upset or distress anyone. This is simply not in my nature.” He added that the claims were deeply upsetting and that he had never been made aware of such matters previously. His legal team also refuted the allegations, describing some as “a fabricated work of fiction.”

Objective Media Group, the production company behind shows like Gordon, Gino and Fred’s Road Trip, confirmed they had spoken to D’Acampo about the differences between on-screen character material and off-screen behaviour. They emphasised their commitment to a safe work environment and robust protocols for handling complaints. ITV, which airs D’Acampo’s shows, stated that while production companies hold primary responsibility for duty of care, they take all concerns seriously and have acted on reported issues.

The allegations have sparked a broader conversation about workplace behaviour in the television industry, with calls for stricter enforcement of duty-of-care guidelines.
