Hollyoaks actor Callum Kerr has issued a statement following the tragic deaths of his mother, Dawn Searle, and her husband, Andrew Searle, in rural south-west France. The couple, who had moved to France from Scotland around a decade ago, were found dead at their home in the village of Les Pesquiès on Thursday, 8 February 2025.
Dawn, 56, was discovered outside the property with a serious head injury, while Andrew, 62, was found inside the house. A neighbour initially thought Dawn was unwell and called emergency services. French authorities, including police, a helicopter, a drone, and forensic teams, arrived at the scene to investigate. The public prosecutor, Nicolas Rigot-Muller, stated that both deaths were violent but emphasised that all hypotheses, including homicide, remain open. Autopsies are expected to begin on Monday.
Callum Kerr, 30, who played PC George Kiss in Hollyoaks and has appeared in Netflix’s Virgin River, shared a heartfelt statement on Instagram. He expressed his family’s grief and requested privacy during this difficult time. Kerr had previously walked his mother down the aisle at her wedding to Andrew in 2023, describing it as a “pleasure” and a cherished memory.
The UK Foreign Office confirmed it is supporting the family and liaising with French authorities. Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the deaths are ongoing, with local media speculating about a possible burglary. However, no official conclusions have been reached.
