Nationwide Building Society Customers Could Receive £100 Bonus This Summer

Millions of Nationwide Building Society customers could be in line for a £100 bonus this summer as part of the Fairer Share scheme, following similar payouts in the past two years. While the building society has yet to confirm the scheme for 2025, it is “likely” to return, with announcements expected in May and payments made in June, based on previous years’ timelines.

To qualify, customers must keep their Nationwide current account open until at least March 31 and actively use it each month up to that date. Specific criteria vary by account type, such as depositing £500 and making two payments out for FlexAccount, FlexBasic, or FlexDirect customers, or paying the account fee for FlexPlus holders. Additionally, customers must have at least £100 in a Nationwide savings account or owe £100 on a Nationwide mortgage.

Last year, £385 million was distributed to 3.85 million eligible members. Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert website has advised customers to maximise their chances by meeting these criteria early. However, the £100 bonus is considered taxable savings income, meaning higher- or additional-rate taxpayers may need to pay tax on the payment, though most basic-rate taxpayers will not be affected due to the personal savings allowance.
