Sky Unveils Enhanced Sky Glass Gen 2 TV with Brighter Display and Superior Sound
Sky has unveiled its latest iteration of the Sky Glass TV, the Sky Glass Gen 2, which promises a brighter 4K HDR display and enhanced Dolby Atmos® sound. Available from 12 February, the new model starts at £14 per month and can be purchased through Sky.com, Sky stores, Sky call centres, and Currys.co.uk, with in-store availability at Currys coming soon. The Sky Glass TV is unique in that it integrates Sky TV directly into the device, eliminating the need for a satellite dish or external box. It streams content over Wi-Fi, offering an all-in-one entertainment solution with a sleek design, cinematic sound, and intelligent Sky OS software.
The Gen 2 model features a brighter 4K Quantum Dot display with advanced HDR and precision contrast enhancement, delivering deeper blacks and more vivid colours. The TV automatically optimises picture and sound based on the content being viewed, with refreshed modes for Entertainment, Movies, Music, Auto, Vivid, Extra Vivid, and Sport. The sound system has been upgraded to include seven speakers, including a soundbar and dual subwoofer, providing richer bass and improved vocal clarity for a more immersive audio experience.
Sky Glass Gen 2 comes in three sizes (43”, 55”, and 65”) and three updated colours: Volcanic Grey, Arctic Silver, and Atlantic Blue. The TV is designed to blend seamlessly into modern interiors, with colour-matched remotes and speaker fascias. Setup is straightforward, requiring only a Wi-Fi connection, and the new stand design eliminates the need for screws or tools. A bespoke wall mount option is also available.
The TV runs on Sky OS, which aggregates content from Sky and other streaming apps, offering personalised playlists and voice control via a far-field microphone. Customers can purchase the TV outright or opt for interest-free monthly payments, with prices starting at £14 per month for the 43” model. Sky has also introduced the Essential TV pack, offering over 100 channels, including Sky Atlantic and Netflix, for £15 per month.
Additionally, Sky has teased the upcoming launch of Sky Glass Air, a more affordable 4K Quantum Dot HDR TV with global dimming and contrast enhancement, set to debut later this year. This expansion aims to provide customers with more choices for accessing the Sky TV experience.
