Sky Unveils Second-Generation Sky Glass TV with Enhanced Features
Sky has unveiled its second-generation Sky Glass TV, promising significant improvements in picture and sound quality. The new model, dubbed Sky Glass Gen 2, retains the same pricing structure as its predecessor, with the 43-inch version starting at £699, the 55-inch at £949, and the 65-inch at £1,199. Customers can also opt for interest-free payment plans over 24 or 48 months, making the TV more accessible.
The hardware upgrades focus on a brighter display with increased contrast, thanks to a backlight featuring more LEDs and dimming zones. The sound system has also been re-engineered, now including up-firing drivers for enhanced Dolby Atmos performance. However, the TV still lacks OLED or Mini LED technology, and its gaming capabilities remain limited, with no support for 4K/120Hz or advanced gaming features.
Sky Glass Gen 2 continues to integrate the full Sky TV service, offering a streamlined experience with Sky OS, which includes voice control, content discovery, and app integration. The TV is designed for simplicity, with an Auto picture preset that adapts to content and ambient lighting conditions. Despite these improvements, the absence of cutting-edge panel technology may deter serious cinephiles or gamers.
The new model will be available to order directly from Sky starting 12th February 2025, with Currys stocking it by the end of the month. Sky has also hinted at a more affordable version, Sky Glass Air, set to launch later this year. While the Gen 2 model shows promise, a full review will be necessary to confirm its performance in real-world conditions.

Hands on: I've already seen Sky Glass Gen 2 in action, and I'm cautiously optimistic about its quality
It's the same price despite several upgrades, but it's still not a TV for serious cinephiles or hardcore gamers
