2024/25 UEFA Champions League Round of 16 Draw Announced
The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League round of 16 draw took place on Friday, 21 February, at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland. The draw determined the matchups for the knockout phase, with the top eight teams from the league phase seeded and paired against the winners of the knockout phase play-offs.
The seeded teams included Arsenal, Aston Villa, Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, Inter Milan, Bayer Leverkusen, Lille, and Liverpool. They were drawn against unseeded teams such as Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Club Brugge, Feyenoord, Paris Saint-Germain, PSV Eindhoven, and Real Madrid. Notably, teams could face opponents from the same national association or clubs they had previously encountered in the league phase.
Key fixtures include Club Brugge vs Aston Villa, PSV/Arsenal vs Real Madrid/Atlético, and Bayern/Leverkusen vs Feyenoord/Inter. The first legs of the round of 16 are scheduled for 4/5 March, with the return legs on 11/12 March. The quarter-finals will follow on 8/9 and 15/16 April, while the semi-finals are set for 29/30 April and 6/7 May. The final will be held on 31 May at the Munich Football Arena.
The draw also outlined the structure for the quarter-finals and semi-finals, with the winners of the silver and blue sides of the bracket progressing accordingly. No draw was required for the final, as the winners of the semi-final on the silver side will be designated as the nominal home team.
