Everton Triumphs Over Crystal Palace in Premier League Clash

Everton secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday, with January loan signing Carlos Alcaraz scoring the decisive goal. The win extended Everton’s unbeaten run to five Premier League matches under manager David Moyes, who has overseen a significant improvement in form since his return to the club.

The visitors took the lead in the 42nd minute through Beto, who capitalised on a defensive error by Palace. Jean-Philippe Mateta equalised for the hosts just after half-time, but Alcaraz restored Everton’s advantage in the 80th minute with a well-taken finish. Despite late pressure from Palace, Everton held on to claim all three points.

The result sees Everton leapfrog both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United in the Premier League table, moving up to 13th place. For Crystal Palace, the defeat was a frustrating setback, with manager Oliver Glasner lamenting his side’s inability to capitalise on key moments. The Eagles remain in 12th place, seven points adrift of the top half.

Moyes praised his team’s resilience, particularly after their midweek Merseyside derby draw against Liverpool. “The players have reacted well,” he said. “It has been a dream start coming in and winning so many games. We showed great resilience today and won at a difficult place against a team who have been improving.”

Glasner, meanwhile, acknowledged the physicality of Everton’s play but expressed disappointment at his team’s defensive lapses. “We gave them this kind of goal, had a great reaction, and then it was up and down,” he said. “It was a set play again when we can’t clear it, and that is why we lost.”

The match highlighted Everton’s growing confidence under Moyes, while Palace will look to bounce back in their next fixture as they aim to maintain their push for a top-half finish.
