Severe Weather Alert; UK Braces for Strong Winds and Heavy Rain

The UK is set to experience severe weather tomorrow, with the Met Office issuing yellow warnings for wind and rain across large parts of the country. The warnings come into effect from 3am for Northern Ireland and 6am for mainland UK, with strong winds and heavy rain expected to cause travel disruption, minor power cuts, and potential flooding.

Wind speeds are forecast to reach 50-60mph, potentially hitting 70mph in exposed coastal areas and high ground. The rain will be heaviest in south-west Scotland, north-west England, and south Wales, with up to 90mm of rainfall predicted in some areas. The Met Office has advised the public to prepare for poor driving conditions and potential delays to road, rail, air, and ferry services.

Meteorologist Zoe Hutin stated that Sunday will likely be the worst day for weather in the coming week, with conditions expected to improve by Monday. While winds will ease by Sunday evening, residual rain may linger in the south-east. Temperatures will remain mild, with highs of 13°C in the south and around 10°C in Scotland and northern England. The public is urged to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions.
