Trump Shares AI-Generated Vision of Gaza as Luxury Resort
Donald Trump has sparked controversy after sharing an AI-generated video on his Truth Social platform depicting a reimagined Gaza as a luxury resort. The footage, which the 78-year-old former US president posted without comment, presents a futuristic vision of the war-torn Palestinian territory transformed into a Dubai-style paradise, complete with skyscrapers, luxury yachts, and exotic beaches. The video, titled “Gaza 2025… What’s Next?”, features Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sipping cocktails on a beach, alongside a towering golden statue of Trump and scenes of bearded belly dancers and children holding golden balloons of the president’s head.
The video aligns with Trump’s controversial “Riviera of the Middle East” plan, which proposes relocating Gaza’s 2.1 million residents to neighbouring countries and redeveloping the territory into a US-owned luxury destination. The plan has been widely criticised as a blueprint for ethnic cleansing, with Palestinian leaders and Arab nations, including Egypt, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia, rejecting it outright. Hamas, the militant group governing Gaza, dismissed the proposal as “ridiculous and absurd,” with spokesperson Basem Naim stating that Palestinians seek freedom, not improved “prison conditions.”
The AI-generated video also includes appearances by billionaire Elon Musk, who is shown dancing on a beach under a shower of dollar bills and enjoying meals. The footage has drawn backlash from Trump’s supporters on Truth Social, with some describing it as “sick,” “filth,” and “in very poor taste.” Critics have particularly highlighted the golden statue of Trump, with some users likening it to idolatry and urging the former president to “humble yourself to God.”
The video, which appears to have been created by unknown sources and shared online prior to Trump’s post, has reignited debates over the future of Gaza amid ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. While Netanyahu has expressed tentative support for Trump’s plan, calling it “creative,” the proposal faces significant legal, ethical, and practical challenges. The international community continues to grapple with the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where over 50,000 people, mostly civilians, have been killed since the war began in October 2023.
