अमेरिकी सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने 26/11 मुंबई हमले के आरोपी ताहव्वुर राणा के भारत प्रत्यर्पण को मंजूरी दे दी है। राणा, जो पाकिस्तानी मूल के कनाडाई नागरिक हैं, को 2008 के मुंबई आतंकी हमले में उनकी भूमिका के लिए भारत में मुकदमे का सामना करना होगा। यह फैसला राणा द्वारा अमेरिकी सुप्रीम कोर्ट में दायर की गई समीक्षा याचिका को खारिज करने के बाद आया है। राणा ने यह याचिका निचली अदालतों में अपनी हार के बाद दायर की थी, जिसमें उन्होंने दोहरे खतरे (डबल जेपार्डी) के सिद्धांत का हवाला दिया था।
राणा को पाकिस्तानी-अमेरिकी आतंकवादी डेविड कोलमैन हेडली के साथ जुड़े होने का आरोप है, जो 26/11 हमले के मुख्य साजिशकर्ताओं में से एक था। राणा ने हेडली को भारत में आवास और अन्य सुविधाएं प्रदान करने में मदद की थी, जिससे हेडली ने मुंबई में हमले की योजना बनाई। राणा वर्तमान में लॉस एंजेलिस की जेल में बंद हैं और उनका प्रत्यर्पण भारत के लिए एक बड़ी कानूनी जीत मानी जा रही है।
भारत सरकार ने राणा के प्रत्यर्पण की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है और जल्द ही एक एनआईए टीम उन्हें लेने अमेरिका जाएगी। राणा को भारत लाने के लिए चार्टर्ड विमान या सामान्य उड़ान का उपयोग किया जा सकता है। राणा को भारत में तिहाड़ जेल में रखा जाएगा, जहां उन्हें अंतरराष्ट्रीय मानकों के अनुसार सुविधाएं प्रदान की जाएंगी।
2008 के मुंबई हमले में 166 लोग मारे गए थे, जिनमें छह अमेरिकी नागरिक भी शामिल थे। इस हमले में 10 पाकिस्तानी आतंकवादियों ने मुंबई के प्रमुख स्थानों पर हमला किया था। राणा का प्रत्यर्पण इस मामले में नई जानकारी सामने ला सकता है और पाकिस्तानी राज्य अभिनेताओं की भूमिका को उजागर कर सकता है।
