पाकिस्तान और वेस्टइंडीज के बीच दूसरे टेस्ट मैच का पहला दिन स्पिन गेंदबाजी के प्रभुत्व वाला रहा। मुल्तान क्रिकेट स्टेडियम में खेले गए इस मैच में पहले दिन ही 20 विकेट गिरे, जो एशिया में किसी टेस्ट मैच के पहले दिन का सबसे ज्यादा आंकड़ा है। वेस्टइंडीज ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी का फैसला किया, लेकिन उनकी पूरी टीम सिर्फ 163 रन पर ढेर हो गई। पाकिस्तान के स्पिनर नोमन अली ने हैट्रिक लेकर वेस्टइंडीज की पारी को ध्वस्त कर दिया।
हालांकि, पाकिस्तान की बल्लेबाजी भी खास नहीं रही और वे 154 रन पर ऑल आउट हो गए। वेस्टइंडीज के स्पिनर जोमेल वॉरिकन ने 4 विकेट लेकर पाकिस्तान को पीछे धकेल दिया। पहले दिन के अंत तक वेस्टइंडीज को 9 रन की बढ़त मिल चुकी थी।
