इंग्लैंड के तेज गेंदबाज मार्क वुड ने पांच महीने के इंजरी ब्रेक के बाद भारत के खिलाफ पहले टी20 मैच में वापसी की। वुड ने अगस्त 2024 में श्रीलंका के खिलाफ पहले टेस्ट मैच के बाद से कोई मैच नहीं खेला था, क्योंकि उनके कोहनी में स्ट्रेस फ्रैक्चर का पता चला था। इसके अलावा, उन्हें मामूली जांघ की समस्या भी थी। वुड ने जोफ्रा आर्चर के साथ इंग्लैंड की पेस अटैक का नेतृत्व किया, जबकि बेन डकेट और फिल सॉल्ट ने ओपनिंग की।

इंग्लैंड के कप्तान जोस बटलर ने टीम की प्लेइंग XI की घोषणा करते हुए कहा कि वह इस सीरीज को लेकर उत्साहित हैं और यह भारत के खिलाफ एक चुनौतीपूर्ण सीरीज होगी। बटलर ने यह भी कहा कि वह कोच ब्रेंडन मैककुलम के साथ रिश्ते को मजबूत करने के लिए उत्सुक हैं।

इंग्लैंड की टीम ने कोलकाता के ईडन गार्डन्स में पहले टी20 मैच में भारत के खिलाफ 132 रन बनाए, जिसका भारत ने सात विकेट से पीछा कर लिया। अभिषेक शर्मा ने 34 गेंदों में 79 रन बनाकर भारत की जीत में अहम भूमिका निभाई। वुड ने इस मैच में 1 विकेट लिया।

दूसरा टी20 मैच 25 जनवरी को चेन्नई के एमए चिदंबरम स्टेडियम में खेला जाएगा।
