भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के युवा ओपनर अभिषेक शर्मा ने इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ पांचवें टी20 मैच में शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए 17 गेंदों में अर्धशतक जड़ा। यह भारत के लिए टी20 इंटरनेशनल में दूसरा सबसे तेज़ अर्धशतक था। अभिषेक ने मुंबई के वानखेड़े स्टेडियम में खेले गए इस मैच में इंग्लैंड के गेंदबाजों की धुनाई करते हुए 37 गेंदों में शतक भी पूरा किया, जिसमें 10 छक्के शामिल थे। उनके इस प्रदर्शन ने भारत को पावरप्ले में 95 रन बनाने में मदद की, जो टी20 इंटरनेशनल में भारत का सबसे बड़ा पावरप्ले स्कोर है।
अभिषेक शर्मा का यह प्रदर्शन इतना शानदार था कि मुकेश अंबानी जैसे दिग्गज भी उनकी बल्लेबाजी देखकर खड़े होकर तालियां बजाने लगे। सोशल मीडिया पर उनकी प्रतिक्रिया वायरल हो गई। अभिषेक ने इससे पहले पहले टी20 मैच में भी 73 रन की पारी खेली थी, जिसमें उन्होंने शतक का मौका गंवा दिया था।
भारत ने इस मैच से पहले ही सीरीज जीत ली थी, क्योंकि उन्होंने पहले चार मैचों में से तीन जीत हासिल की थी। इस मैच में इंग्लैंड ने टॉस जीतकर पहले गेंदबाजी करने का फैसला किया, लेकिन अभिषेक शर्मा के हमले ने उनकी योजनाओं को ध्वस्त कर दिया। भारतीय कप्तान सूर्यकुमार यादव ने टॉस के समय कहा कि वे पहले बल्लेबाजी करना चाहते थे और टीम के खिलाड़ियों से जिम्मेदारी लेने की उम्मीद कर रहे थे। अभिषेक शर्मा ने इस उम्मीद को पूरा कर दिखाया।
