आईआईटी बॉम्बे ने प्लेसमेंट में जाति श्रेणी की जानकारी एकत्र करना बंद किया
आईआईटी बॉम्बे ने 2024 से प्लेसमेंट के लिए जाति श्रेणी की जानकारी एकत्र करना बंद कर दिया है। यह जानकारी राष्ट्रीय अनुसूचित जाति आयोग (एनसीएससी) को संस्थान की ओर से दिए गए जवाब में सामने आई है, जहां नवंबर में जातिगत भेदभाव की शिकायत दर्ज की गई थी। शिकायत में आरोप लगाया गया था कि आईआईटी बॉम्बे प्लेसमेंट में भाग लेने वाले छात्रों से उनकी जाति श्रेणी भरने के लिए अनिवार्य रूप से कहता है।
शिकायत ग्लोबल आईआईटी एलुमनी सपोर्ट ग्रुप के संस्थापक धीरज सिंह ने दर्ज की थी, जो एससी/एसटी छात्रों को प्लेसमेंट प्रक्रिया में मदद करता है। सिंह ने आरोप लगाया कि आईआईटी बॉम्बे का प्लेसमेंट कार्यालय एससी पृष्ठभूमि के छात्रों के खिलाफ भेदभावपूर्ण प्रथाओं को अंजाम दे रहा है।
आईआईटी बॉम्बे ने एनसीएससी को दिए अपने जवाब में कहा कि पहले प्लेसमेंट कार्यालय छात्रों की श्रेणी जानकारी एकत्र करता था ताकि इसे पीएसयू कंपनियों को दिया जा सके, लेकिन 2024 से यह प्रथा बंद कर दी गई है। संस्थान ने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि जब पीएसयू छात्रों की भर्ती करते हैं, तो वे आरक्षित श्रेणियों के लिए जन्म श्रेणी के दस्तावेज़ों की जांच करते हैं, और प्लेसमेंट कार्यालय इस डेटा को एकत्र करने में शामिल नहीं है।
इस मामले ने प्लेसमेंट प्रक्रिया में जातिगत भेदभाव के मुद्दे को फिर से उजागर किया है और छात्रों को सही जानकारी और सहायता प्रदान करने की आवश्यकता पर जोर दिया है।
