मुंबई इंडियंस (एमआई) ने गुजरात जायंट्स (जीजी) को महिला प्रीमियर लीग (डब्ल्यूपीएल) 2025 के पांचवें मैच में पांच विकेट से हराकर अपनी पहली जीत दर्ज की। यह मैच 18 फरवरी, 2025 को वडोदरा के कोटाम्बी इंटरनेशनल स्टेडियम में खेला गया। एमआई की ओर से ऑलराउंडर नैट स्कीवर-ब्रंट ने 39 गेंदों में 57 रन की शानदार पारी खेली और साथ ही गेंदबाजी में दो विकेट लेकर टीम को जीत दिलाने में अहम भूमिका निभाई।
गुजरात जायंट्स ने टॉस हारकर पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए 20 ओवर में 120 रन बनाए। हेली मैथ्यूज (3 विकेट), एमेलिया केर (2 विकेट) और अमनजोत कौर (1 विकेट) ने गुजरात की बल्लेबाजी को नियंत्रित करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। जवाब में, एमआई ने 16.1 ओवर में 122 रन बनाकर मैच जीत लिया। स्कीवर-ब्रंट के अलावा, सजना सजीवन और डेब्यू करने वाली जी कमलिनी ने भी अंतिम पड़ाव में टीम को जीत तक पहुंचाया।
गुजरात की ओर से हरलीन देओल ने 31 गेंदों में 32 रन बनाए, लेकिन टीम के अन्य बल्लेबाज ज्यादा रन नहीं बना सके। एमआई की गेंदबाजी और फील्डिंग ने गुजरात को कभी भी मैच में वापस आने का मौका नहीं दिया।
यह जीत एमआई के लिए महत्वपूर्ण थी, क्योंकि इससे उन्हें टूर्नामेंट में पहली जीत मिली और उनका आत्मविश्वास बढ़ा। वहीं, गुजरात जायंट्स ने अपने घरेलू मैदान पर अंतिम मैच हारकर टूर्नामेंट में अब तक केवल एक जीत दर्ज की है।
