Dave Coulier Reveals Stage 3 Cancer Diagnosis; A Story of Resilience and Hope
Full House star Dave Coulier has revealed that he has been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a form of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. The 65-year-old actor shared the news during interviews on prominent platforms, including the Today show, where he described the experience as a “roller coaster ride.”
Coulier first experienced symptoms after coming down with a cold, which led to the rapid swelling of a lymph node in his groin—a growth he likened to the size of a golf ball. Concerned about this unusual development, he visited his doctor, who recommended a series of tests including PET scans and a biopsy. The shocking result came back just three days later, confirming the diagnosis of aggressive B-cell lymphoma.
In reflecting on the news, Coulier expressed feelings of disbelief and sorrow, stating, “The first thing I said to them was, ‘Wait a minute — cancer?’” However, he also noted an unexpected calmness about the situation, declaring that he felt “OK with whatever the news is going to be no matter how devastating.” The positivity from his family, especially his wife Melissa, has been a significant support throughout this journey.
Gratefully, a subsequent bone marrow test showed that the cancer had not spread, which greatly increased his prognosis—doctors indicated a curability rate of over 90%. As Coulier embarks on a treatment plan involving six rounds of chemotherapy, he remains optimistic, noting that he underwent his first round and plans to complete treatment by February 2025.
Throughout this experience, Coulier has committed to maintaining his humor and sharing his journey publicly to inspire others. He urges people to prioritize their health and engage in regular screenings, emphasizing that early detection can dramatically change outcomes.
With his son Luc expecting a baby in March, Coulier looks forward to becoming a grandfather, further motivating him to stay positive and focused on recovery. He continues to engage in activities he enjoys, including a recent skating session with friends, while encouraging others facing similar battles to stay strong and proactive about their health.
