Congressional Experts Highlight Secrecy in UAP Programs
Experts testified before Congress on November 13, 2024, during a hearing titled “Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena: Exposing the Truth,” where they made claims about secret UAP (Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena) programs run by the U.S. government. This hearing follows a similar session last year where a retired intelligence officer alleged that the government had recovered nonhuman biologics from crash sites.
Retired Rear Admiral Timothy Gallaudet, a key witness, shared his experience of encountering an unidentified object during a naval exercise in 2015, which he described as displaying flight capabilities beyond current human aircraft. He emphasized the importance of recognizing that UAPs could represent evidence of advanced intelligence beyond our own.
Former Department of Defense official Luis Elizondo testified that he believes the U.S. is in possession of advanced technologies not made by any government. He confirmed that there are ongoing secret retrieval programs aimed at understanding crashed UAPs, although specifics were withheld due to classification. Elizondo also raised concerns about national security, citing reports of UAPs monitoring sensitive military installations.
Journalist Michael Shellenberger presented a lengthy testimony including a whistleblower report allegedly detailing a classified UAP retrieval program called “Immaculate Constellation.” He claimed that this program processes data on UAPs while remaining hidden from congressional oversight.
The hearing highlighted a growing call for transparency regarding UAP investigations. Gallaudet and other witnesses urged the government to overcome the stigma surrounding the topic to foster open discussions and facilitate scientific exploration. NASA’s need for improved funding and research into these phenomena was also emphasized, with claims that many past encounters were dismissed without proper investigation.
Rep. Nancy Mace, who chaired the hearing, pressed for accountability and transparency, stating that excessive secrecy has led to misdeeds against public interests. Lawmakers expressed a commitment to ensuring oversight of UAP-related activities, amid increasing public interest and concern about the implications of these findings on national security and technological advancements.
Overall, the expert testimonies reinforced the notion that the government may have undisclosed insights into UAPs and their potential significance, urging a collaborative effort for increased transparency and investigation.
