Cleveland Browns Fall to New Orleans Saints in Disappointing 35-14 Loss
The Cleveland Browns suffered a disappointing 35-14 loss to the New Orleans Saints in their Week 11 matchup at the Caesars Superdome. This defeat brings the Browns’ season record to 2-8, while the Saints improved to 4-7.
Browns quarterback Jameis Winston, returning to New Orleans, threw for an impressive 395 yards and two touchdowns. His performance included an 89-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Jeudy, marking the longest touchdown of his career. However, despite these highlights, the Browns’ offense struggled to keep pace with the Saints, particularly in the fourth quarter when New Orleans scored three unanswered touchdowns.
The game began with both teams tied at 14 going into the final quarter. Browns cornerback Denzel Ward recorded two takeaways in the first half, but the Saints’ explosive offense, spearheaded by tight end and quarterback Taysom Hill, proved too much to handle. Hill rushed for 138 yards and three touchdowns, including a 75-yard scoring run late in the game to seal the victory for New Orleans.
The Browns faced significant challenges, including missed field goals by kicker Dustin Hopkins, who failed to capitalize on key opportunities, missing kicks from 51 and 32 yards. Offensive line struggles were also evident, particularly following the injury of left tackle Dawand Jones, who was carted off with a broken leg.
Defensively, the Browns allowed several long plays, posting only two takeaways without being able to contain Hill’s versatility. This loss raises questions regarding the coaching strategies of head coach Kevin Stefanski, who received an incomplete grade from analysts, and the defensive coordinator, Jim Schwartz, who was given a D-.
As the Browns prepare for a short week ahead of their matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday Night Football, the team seeks to regroup and find a way to turn their season around.
