Rapper Tay-K Faces Second Murder Trial Amid Ongoing Legal Battles

Tay-K’s second murder trial is set to begin on February 10, 2025, as the rapper faces capital murder charges for the fatal shooting of Mark Anthony Saldivar in 2017. Tay-K, whose real name is Taymor McIntyre, is currently serving a 55-year sentence for his involvement in a 2016 murder case in Texas.

Court documents reveal that a jury pool of 200 potential jurors is expected to convene on February 7, 2025. If convicted in the second trial, Tay-K could receive an automatic life sentence without the possibility of parole. The rapper previously rejected a plea deal offered by prosecutors, opting instead to proceed to trial.

Tay-K gained notoriety after he fled from authorities while on bond, during which he released the hit song “The Race,” which discussed his life on the run. This song became a viral sensation and raised significant attention to his legal troubles. He was captured by U.S. Marshals in June 2017 and later found guilty in July 2019 for the murder of Ethan Walker during a robbery, which led to his lengthy prison sentence.

Since his incarceration, Tay-K has expressed frustration over his sentence, arguing that he played a minimal role in the crimes and has questioned the fairness of his treatment, suggesting that his race played a role in the severity of his sentence. He has been vocal about his circumstances, unable to experience life as an adult outside of prison, as he has been in custody since he was 17.

As his second trial approaches, Tay-K’s legal team has raised concerns over potential bias in jury selection given the extensive media coverage surrounding his case. The upcoming proceedings in 2025 are expected to draw significant public interest once again.
