FSU Seminoles Secure a Resounding Victory Against Charleston Southern
Florida State University (FSU) snapped a six-game losing streak with a decisive 41-7 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday at Doak Campbell Stadium. The win marked FSU’s second of the season, improving their record to 2-9 overall and 2-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
Freshman quarterback Luke Kromenhoek had an impressive performance, throwing for 209 yards and three touchdowns—his first collegiate scores. FSU took an early lead and maintained control throughout the game, holding Charleston Southern to just 57 rushing yards, the fourth-fewest in head coach Mike Norvell’s tenure.
The Seminoles began the scoring with a field goal and followed with touchdowns from Kromenhoek to tight end Amaree Williams and running back Caziah Holmes, leading 17-0 at halftime. They opened the second half with a remarkable 71-yard touchdown pass from Kromenhoek to wide receiver Ja’Khi Douglas, marking the first time all season FSU crossed the 21-point threshold in a game.
Charleston Southern, which finished its season at 1-10, managed to score a late touchdown but struggled against an FSU defense that forced turnovers and limited offensive plays. This game was also significant as it was FSU’s annual Seminole Heritage game and Homecoming, further adding to the celebratory atmosphere.
With this victory, FSU is set to face their rivals, the Florida Gators, next Saturday, with a kickoff time yet to be determined.
