52nd Annual March for Life Draws Thousands in Washington, D.C.
Thousands of pro-life advocates gathered in Washington, D.C., on January 24, 2025, for the 52nd annual March for Life, marking the largest anti-abortion rally in the nation. The event, which began with a rally at the National Mall, featured prominent speakers, including Vice President JD Vance, House Speaker Mike Johnson, and a video message from President Donald Trump.
Vice President Vance, addressing the crowd in person, emphasized the importance of building a culture of life and supporting families. He shared personal anecdotes about his own children and called for policies that make it easier for parents to raise families. Vance also highlighted the Trump administration’s commitment to protecting pro-life activists and advancing pro-life legislation.
President Trump, in his video message, celebrated the overturning of Roe v. Wade and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to defending the unborn. He praised the resilience of the pro-life movement and vowed to continue fighting for life during his second term.
The march, which proceeded from the Washington Monument to the Supreme Court, included a diverse lineup of speakers, such as professional surfer Bethany Hamilton, Live Action President Lila Rose, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. DeSantis touted Florida’s pro-life policies, declaring, “Florida is not only the place where woke goes to die, it’s the place where babies go to live.”
The event also featured a pre-rally concert and a focus on supporting mothers and children, reflecting the movement’s shift toward providing resources for families in need. Archbishop Joseph Naumann of Kansas City led a prayer, urging attendees to be “pilgrims of hope” in building a culture of life.
Road closures and parking restrictions were in effect throughout downtown D.C. to accommodate the march, with thousands of participants braving chilly weather to make their voices heard. The march concluded at the Supreme Court, where attendees celebrated the progress made since the overturning of Roe v. Wade while acknowledging the ongoing challenges in the fight for life.
The 2025 March for Life underscored the pro-life movement’s determination to continue advocating for the unborn and supporting families, even as the political and cultural battles over abortion access persist.
