Prouni 2025; Registration Opens for University Scholarships in Brazil
Registrations for the University for All Program (Prouni) 2025 have been open since Friday, January 24, and will continue until Tuesday, January 28. The selection process offers full (100%) and partial (50%) scholarships for undergraduate courses at private higher education institutions across Brazil. In this edition, 338,444 scholarships are available, with 203,539 full scholarships and 134,905 partial scholarships, distributed across 403 courses at 1,031 institutions.
To apply, candidates must access the Single Access Portal for Higher Education and fill in their personal information, as well as choose up to two course, institution, and shift options. It is necessary to have taken the National High School Exam (Enem) in 2023 or 2024, with a minimum average score of 450 points in the tests and a score above zero in the essay. Additionally, candidates must meet at least one of the following criteria:
- Have completed high school entirely at a public school;
- Have completed high school at a private institution as a full or partial scholarship recipient;
- Be a person with a disability, as defined by law;
- Be a public school teacher, exclusively for teaching and pedagogy courses.
To compete for full scholarships, the gross monthly family income per person must not exceed 1.5 minimum wages. For partial scholarships, the limit is three minimum wages. Public school teachers are exempt from the income limit.
The result of the first call will be announced on February 4, and the result of the second call will be announced on February 28. If not selected in the two calls, the candidate can express interest in the waiting list on March 26 and 27, with results expected by April 1.
Prouni will complete 20 years in 2025, having benefited more than 3.4 million students since its creation. Of these, 2.5 million received full scholarships and 947,000 received partial scholarships. The program has been essential in expanding access to higher education, especially for women (56% of beneficiaries) and Black individuals (55%), contributing to the reduction of educational inequalities in the country.
Candidates who also applied for the Unified Selection System (Sisu) can participate in Prouni, but it is not allowed to accumulate a spot at a public university and a scholarship from the program.
