Spin Dominates as 20 Wickets Fall on First Day of Pakistan vs West Indies Test
The first day of the second Test match between Pakistan and West Indies was dominated by spin bowling. In this match played at the Multan Cricket Stadium, 20 wickets fell on the very first day, which is the highest number for the first day of any Test match in Asia. West Indies won the toss and decided to bat first, but their entire team was bundled out for just 163 runs. Pakistan’s spinner Nauman Ali took a hat-trick, dismantling the West Indies innings.
However, Pakistan’s batting also did not fare well, and they were all out for 154 runs. West Indies spinner Jomel Warrican took 4 wickets, pushing Pakistan back. By the end of the first day, West Indies had gained a lead of 9 runs.
The pitch had already started to deteriorate from the first day, providing ample assistance to the spinners. Pakistan’s coach Saqlain Mushtaq defended the decision to prepare a spin-friendly pitch, while the West Indies captain said he had never seen so many cracks on the pitch on the very first day.
The second day’s play is expected to be even more exciting, as both teams will try to secure a win in this match. Pakistan is leading the series 1-0 and is hoping for a clean sweep, while West Indies is striving to level the series.
