Coldplay's Historic Concert in Ahmedabad; A Blend of Music and Culture
The British rock band Coldplay organized their biggest concert at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on January 25 and 26. For this concert, the band’s frontman, Chris Martin, made his entry in Ahmedabad riding a scooter, which he shared on Instagram. In the video, Chris can be seen sitting at the back of the scooter, where he is heard saying, “What the heck!”
For this concert, the Gujarat Police made extensive security arrangements, which included over 3,800 police personnel, a National Security Guard (NSG) team, bomb squads, and more than 400 CCTV cameras. Metal detectors and plainclothes officers were also deployed during the concert.
The concert was live-streamed on Disney+ Hotstar, allowing fans across the country to enjoy it. The concert featured Coldplay’s classic songs such as “Fix You,” “Paradise,” and “Yellow.”
During the concert, Chris Martin greeted the audience in Gujarati and Hindi, saying, “Kem cho Ahmedabad… aap sabka bahut swagat hai.” He also apologized for the atrocities committed during British rule in India.
This concert is considered a historic event for Ahmedabad, which challenged the city’s infrastructure and hospitality capabilities. Hotel prices saw a significant increase, and the transportation system also faced pressure. Nevertheless, fans described the concert as a “magical and unforgettable” experience.
