FuboTV Announces $5 Monthly Price Increase Across All Plans

FuboTV has announced a $5 monthly price increase across all its English-language streaming plans, citing rising costs from programming partners. The Essential and Pro plans now start at $85 per month, while the Elite plan has risen to $95. This marks the second price hike in recent months, as Fubo had previously increased prices in December 2024. The company introduced the Essential plan in December, which excluded regional sports networks (RSNs) to offer a cheaper alternative, but the new price increase has eliminated that cost advantage.

Fubo’s price hike makes it more expensive than competitors like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV, which have also raised prices recently. The Pro plan, which includes RSNs, now costs the same as the Essential plan, despite offering additional sports content. Fubo has positioned itself as a sports-centric streaming service, offering access to local MLB, NBA, and NHL teams, which are increasingly difficult to find on other platforms. However, the lack of Turner networks like TNT and TBS remains a drawback for some sports fans.

The price increase comes as Fubo faces challenges in a competitive streaming market. The company recently settled an antitrust lawsuit against Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery over their planned sports streaming joint venture, Venu Sports. As part of the settlement, Fubo will merge with Disney’s Hulu + Live TV service, with Disney taking a 70% stake in the combined entity. This merger is expected to enhance Fubo’s content offerings and financial stability but has raised concerns about reduced competition in the sports streaming market.

Fubo’s price adjustments reflect broader trends in the streaming industry, where rising programming costs are forcing providers to pass expenses on to consumers. Despite the challenges, Fubo remains a key player in the live TV streaming space, particularly for sports enthusiasts. However, its ability to compete with larger rivals like YouTube TV and Hulu + Live TV will depend on its ability to balance pricing with content offerings.
