Founder of Habitat Co., Ltd. Passes Away at 29
Habitat Co., Ltd., a company involved in sauna-related businesses, announced that its founder and representative director, Kota Kitamura, passed away on February 4, 2025, at the age of 29. The company posted a notice titled “Notice of the Passing and Change of Representative Director (Obituary)” on its official website, reporting that Kitamura had passed away and had stepped down as representative director on the same day. The wake, funeral, and farewell ceremony will be held only for close relatives, and in accordance with the family’s wishes, offerings of flowers, condolence money, telegrams, and visits are declined.
Habitat Co., Ltd. was established in October 2020, with its main businesses being bathhouse facility production and application development. In particular, the company has been developing the DX tool “habitat” for bathhouse facilities and expanding its trailer sauna business. In September 2023, the company announced additional service locations, indicating its ongoing business expansion. Furthermore, in April 2024, the company received investment from United Co., Ltd., with plans to accelerate the development of its mobile sauna business, which can be utilized for regional revitalization and disaster evacuation support.
With Kitamura’s passing, the future of the company’s operations is under scrutiny, but Habitat is expected to continue advancing its bathhouse facility DX business and trailer sauna business.
