Brad Pitt Stars in High-Speed Formula One Film 'F1'
Brad Pitt is set to star in the high-octane Formula One racing film F1, which debuted a new trailer during the 2025 Super Bowl. The movie, directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), features Pitt as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver who returns to the sport to mentor a rookie prodigy, played by Damson Idris. The film, set to release in theaters on June 27, 2025, was shot during actual Grand Prix weekends, with Pitt and Idris driving real Formula One cars at high speeds.
The cast also includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, and Kim Bodnia, with seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton serving as one of the producers. The trailer showcases intense racing sequences and highlights Pitt’s character’s determination to build a car “for combat.” Idris praised Pitt’s driving skills and humility, noting that the actor’s performance was both impressive and nerve-wracking.
The film, acquired by Apple in 2022 for a reported $130–140 million, will also stream on Apple TV+ after its theatrical release. Warner Bros. holds the distribution rights for theaters, home entertainment, and digital purchases, with IMAX screenings planned as well. F1 promises to deliver a thrilling blend of real-world racing action and dramatic storytelling, with Pitt leading the charge in this high-stakes cinematic experience.
