Canada Triumphs Over Sweden in Overtime Thriller at 4 Nations Face-Off
In a thrilling opener of the 4 Nations Face-Off, Team Canada edged out Sweden 4-3 in overtime on Wednesday night at the Bell Centre in Montreal. Crosby, who finished the game with three assists, was hailed as the player of the game, with fans chanting his name throughout the night. Canadian goaltender Jordan Binnington made 23 saves, while Sweden’s Filip Gustavsson stopped 24 shots in a hard-fought loss.
The victory came at a cost for Canada, as defenseman Shea Theodore suffered a right wrist or forearm injury and is expected to miss the remainder of the tournament. Despite the setback, Canada’s resilience and depth were on full display as they played the final stretch of the game with just five defensemen.
Canada will next face Team USA on Saturday night, continuing their quest for the 4 Nations Face-Off title. The tournament has already delivered on its promise of high-stakes, high-intensity hockey, and fans are eagerly anticipating more thrilling matchups.
