Ditty Releases Romantic Ballad 'So Real' from Upcoming Album 'KALI'

Delhi-born and Berlin-based independent artist Ditty, also known as Aditi Veena, has released her latest single, So Real, from her upcoming album KALI. The romantic ballad, which debuted on Valentine’s Day, explores the transformative power of love, capturing the initial spark of falling in love and the self-discovery it inspires. Ditty describes the song as a reflection of past love that encouraged her to rediscover herself and embrace a new chapter in life.

The track, sung in Ditty’s mellifluous voice, features acoustic guitar, mouth organ, and percussion, creating a dreamy yet grounded atmosphere. While the song appears to be a romantic ballad, Ditty clarifies that it is not dedicated to one person but celebrates various forms of love—romantic, platonic, familial, and even fleeting connections with strangers. The lyrics, such as “This love is so real, surreal, I am hypnotised,” evoke the euphoria of love’s early stages.

Ditty wrote So Real during her time in Sri Lanka, where she worked as an architect from 2013 to 2017. Inspired by her experiences with the Spoken Word Poet’s Group in Sri Lanka, the song reflects her encounters with love and self-acceptance during that period. She remains connected to the community, which she credits for helping her channel her emotions into music and poetry.

The release of So Real marks a shift in Ditty’s artistic journey, as KALI will feature bilingual writing, blending Hindi and English. Known for her environmental advocacy and socially conscious themes, Ditty has previously addressed issues like climate change and social inequality in her music. However, So Real offers a more personal and intimate perspective, showcasing her versatility as an artist.

Ditty is set to embark on her first solo tour across Germany in March, where she will perform songs from KALI, including So Real. She hopes to continue creating art without the pressures of AI, metrics, or trends, advocating for fair pay and creative freedom for independent artists.
