Historic BJP Victory in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025
In the results of the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a historic victory. According to the official figures of the Election Commission, the BJP has won 48 out of 70 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has been limited to 22 seats. The Congress party failed to open its account this time as well and remained at zero. This marks the BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years.
Several senior leaders of AAP lost in the elections, including the party’s national convener and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal lost the New Delhi seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma. Meanwhile, AAP’s Chief Minister Atishi defeated BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri in the Kalkaji seat. However, after the election results, Atishi resigned from the post of Chief Minister.
BJP’s state president Virendra Sachdeva said that this victory is the result of the hard work of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party workers. He stated that the BJP government will work for the development of Delhi.
According to the Election Commission, voting for the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 took place on February 5, and counting began on February 8. Approximately 60.54% voter turnout was recorded in this election.
After the BJP’s victory, party leaders celebrated and expressed gratitude to the voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated the party workers and said that this victory is a symbol of the trust of the people of Delhi.
AAP leader Manish Sisodia said that the party will learn from this defeat and come back stronger in the future. He alleged that the BJP violated rules by distributing money and alcohol during the elections.
The Congress party’s situation worsened in this election, and the party failed to win a single seat. Congress leader Pawan Khera commented on AAP’s defeat, saying that it is the failure of that “Trojan Horse” which tried to harm liberal values in the country.
The BJP is now preparing to form the government in Delhi, and the announcement of the Chief Minister’s name could be made soon.
