Kanye West Sparks Controversy with Antisemitic Posts and Nazi Remarks
Kanye West, the rapper formerly known as Ye, has sparked widespread controversy following a series of antisemitic and inflammatory posts on X (formerly Twitter). Over a 12-hour period, West made dozens of posts, including statements such as “I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT B*****ES,” “Hitler was sooooo fresh,” and “I’m going to normalize talking about Hitler the way talking about killing n****s has been normalized.” He also claimed, “I’m a Nazi” and declared he would “NEVER APOLOGIZE FOR MY JEWISH COMMENTS.”
The posts came after West’s Yeezy website briefly listed a $20 swastika T-shirt for sale, which led Shopify to shut down the site, citing violations of its terms of service. A former Yeezy employee has also filed a lawsuit against West, alleging antisemitic harassment, including texts comparing himself to Hitler. Additionally, West’s talent agency, 33&West, dropped him as a client, stating they could no longer support his “harmful and hateful remarks.”
West’s X account was eventually suspended, with platform owner Elon Musk classifying it as NSFW due to the nature of the posts. West’s tirade also included comments about his wife, Bianca Censori, whom he claimed he had “dominion” over, and a plea to former President Donald Trump to pardon Sean “Diddy” Combs, who is facing federal sex trafficking charges.
The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned West’s remarks, calling them a “flagrant and unequivocal display of hate.” This incident is the latest in a series of controversies involving West, who has previously faced backlash for antisemitic comments and lost major business deals, including his partnership with Adidas. Despite his claims of being a billionaire, Forbes estimates his net worth at $400 million following the fallout from his previous controversies.
