Kanye West Sparks Controversy with Swastika T-Shirt on Yeezy.com

Kanye West, also known as Ye, has sparked widespread controversy after promoting a T-shirt featuring a swastika on his merchandise website, Yeezy.com. The shirt, priced at $30, was prominently displayed on the site following a Super Bowl ad that aired in Los Angeles but not nationally. The ad featured West lying in a dentist’s chair, stating he spent all his money on new teeth and directed viewers to Yeezy.com. The website initially offered a range of non-branded clothing but later showcased only the swastika T-shirt, labeled with the code “HH-01,” which some have interpreted as a reference to “Heil Hitler.”

The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) condemned the shirt, calling it a blatant display of antisemitism. Social media users also pointed out the distinction between the Nazi symbol, known as the Hakenkreuz, and the Hindu swastika, which holds sacred significance. Shopify, the e-commerce platform hosting Yeezy.com, removed the site, citing violations of its Acceptable Use Policy. A spokesperson stated that the merchant did not engage in “authentic commerce practices.”

West’s actions follow a series of antisemitic and inflammatory posts on X (formerly Twitter), where he praised Adolf Hitler, made derogatory remarks about Jewish people, and defended his controversial statements. His account was eventually deactivated, with his final post thanking Elon Musk for allowing him to “vent.” This incident adds to West’s history of controversial behavior, which has led to severed partnerships with major brands like Adidas and Balenciaga. The ADL and other organizations have warned about the dangerous influence of his rhetoric, particularly amid rising global antisemitism.
