Kendrick Lamar Reignites Drake Feud at Super Bowl Halftime Show with Censored Diss Track
Kendrick Lamar reignited his feud with Drake during his headline performance at the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, delivering a censored version of his hit diss track “Not Like Us.” The Compton-born rapper, 37, teased the crowd by saying, “I want to play their favorite song, but you know they love to sue,” referencing Drake’s ongoing lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG) over the song’s lyrics, which accuse Drake of being a “pedophile.” Lamar notably omitted the contentious word during his performance.
The halftime show also featured a surprise appearance by tennis star Serena Williams, who briefly dated Drake around 2011. Williams, a fellow Compton native, joined Lamar onstage, adding a personal dig at Drake. Lamar’s set included several of his biggest hits, such as “HUMBLE.” and “Squabble Up,” before culminating with the censored version of “Not Like Us.” SZA, a frequent collaborator, also performed alongside Lamar, adding to the star-studded event.
The feud between Lamar and Drake has been ongoing for over a year, with both artists releasing multiple diss tracks targeting each other. Lamar’s “Not Like Us” became a massive hit, earning 21 million streams in its first three days and later winning five Grammy Awards, including Song of the Year. Drake, however, has denied the allegations made in the song and filed a defamation lawsuit against UMG, claiming the label promoted the track to create a “viral hit” at his expense.
Lamar’s Super Bowl performance, watched by over 120 million viewers, was seen as a decisive moment in the feud, with many interpreting it as a final blow to Drake. The rapper also announced a joint UK and Europe stadium tour with SZA, set to begin in July 2025, while Drake has no UK tour dates scheduled for the same year.
