NFL Honors 2025; Celebrating Football's Finest in New Orleans
The NFL Honors 2025 ceremony, hosted by Snoop Dogg at the Saenger Theater in New Orleans, celebrated the league’s top performers with a star-studded red carpet event and the announcement of The Associated Press’ annual awards. The awards, voted on by a nationwide panel of 49 media members, included the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, Rookie of the Year awards, and more.
Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen clinched the MVP award in a tightly contested race, edging out two-time winner Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens. Allen, who led the Bills to their fifth consecutive AFC East title, received 27 first-place votes to Jackson’s 23. Allen threw for 3,731 yards and 28 touchdowns, while also rushing for 531 yards and 12 scores, marking his fifth straight season with at least 40 total touchdowns. Jackson, despite earning first-team All-Pro honors, fell short in the MVP race.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley dominated the Offensive Player of the Year category, securing 35 of 50 first-place votes after rushing for 2,005 yards, the eighth-best single-season total in NFL history. Meanwhile, Denver Broncos cornerback Patrick Surtain II won Defensive Player of the Year, becoming the seventh cornerback to claim the honor. Surtain allowed just 37 receptions and recorded four interceptions, earning 26 first-place votes.
In the rookie categories, Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was nearly unanimous for Offensive Rookie of the Year, receiving 49 of 50 first-place votes. On the defensive side, Jared Verse of the Los Angeles Rams won Defensive Rookie of the Year with 37 first-place votes.
Other notable awards included Joe Burrow of the Cincinnati Bengals winning Comeback Player of the Year, Kevin O’Connell of the Minnesota Vikings taking home Coach of the Year, and Ben Johnson, former Lions offensive coordinator, earning Assistant Coach of the Year.
The evening also honored Jaguars defensive lineman Arik Armstead with the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Award, recognizing his excellence on and off the field. The Pro Football Hall of Fame class of 2025, the smallest in 20 years, included Antonio Gates, Jared Allen, Eric Allen, and Sterling Sharpe.
The NFL Honors ceremony, broadcast on Fox and NFL Network, highlighted the league’s brightest stars and set the stage for Super Bowl LIX, where the Philadelphia Eagles faced the Kansas City Chiefs.
