Toney, 26, was booked on charges of aggravated assault—strangulation and obstructing/harassing 911 calls. He was released the same day after posting a $50,000 bond. The former Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants player, who won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs, has not publicly commented on the allegations.

Toney’s NFL career has been marked by both highs and lows. A first-round draft pick in 2021, he contributed to the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LVII victory with a pivotal punt return. However, his performance declined due to injuries and inconsistent play. After being released by the Chiefs, he briefly joined the Cleveland Browns in 2024 but was let go in December following on-field struggles.
