NFL Star Kadarius Toney Faces Serious Charges After Alleged Assault
NFL wide receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested on February 6 in Douglas County, Georgia, on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and obstructing/harassing 911 calls. The arrest stems from an alleged incident on January 14, where Toney reportedly put his hand around a woman’s throat during a dispute, applying enough force to cause her difficulty breathing, leave red marks on her neck, and result in petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes. He also allegedly took the woman’s phone to prevent her from calling 911.
According to police documents and court records, warrants for Toney’s arrest were issued on January 15, and his bond was set at $25,000 for each charge. The woman, who was reportedly seven months pregnant and holding her daughter during the altercation, called authorities from a neighbor’s residence.
Toney, a 26-year-old two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs, was a first-round draft pick by the New York Giants in 2021. He was traded to the Chiefs in 2022 and played a pivotal role in their Super Bowl LVII victory. However, his NFL career has been marred by injuries, inconsistent performance, and off-field issues. After being released by the Chiefs ahead of the 2024 season, he briefly joined the Cleveland Browns but was released in December following disciplinary issues during a game.
Toney’s arrest adds to a series of challenges in his professional and personal life, raising questions about his future in the NFL.
