Pulitzer Prize-Winning Poet Gregory Pardlo to Visit Central Lakes College
Verse Like Water, the visiting poet program of Central Lakes College, will host Pulitzer Prize-winning poet Gregory Pardlo on February 12, 2025, at the Chalberg Theatre in Brainerd, Minnesota. Pardlo, who won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 2015, will deliver a poetry reading at noon, followed by an informal craft talk at 1:30 p.m. Attendees will receive a free copy of his latest poetry book, Spectral Evidence.
Pardlo, known for his profound exploration of the human condition, is the third American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry with a second book. He currently teaches at New York University’s Abu Dhabi campus. Jeff Johnson, director of Verse Like Water, praised Pardlo’s work, noting its focus on themes that resonate deeply with contemporary life. The event is part of Verse Like Water’s mission to bring acclaimed poets to the Brainerd community.
