Ye's Antisemitic Remarks Spark Outrage on Social Media
Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, sparked widespread outrage after posting a series of offensive and antisemitic remarks on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, February 7, 2025. The posts, which began early in the morning, included declarations such as “I love Hitler,” “I’m a Nazi,” and “I’m never apologizing for my Jewish comments.” Ye also made derogatory statements about the Jewish community, claiming, “Some of my best friends are Jewish and I don’t trust any of them,” and asserting that stereotypes exist for a reason.
The rapper’s tirade extended beyond antisemitic remarks, touching on topics such as his wife, Bianca Censori, and his views on race and gender. Ye wrote, “I have dominion over my wife,” referring to Censori’s controversial see-through dress at the Grammy Awards, which he claimed required his approval. He also made sweeping statements about race, writing, “All white people are racist” and “Jewish people actually hate white people and use Black people.”
Ye’s account has been suspended multiple times in the past for similar behavior, including in December 2022 after he praised Hitler and posted a swastika inside a Star of David. X owner Elon Musk confirmed the suspension at the time, citing incitement to violence. Despite previous suspensions, Ye’s account remained active during this latest outburst, prompting condemnation from organizations like the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt called the posts “a flagrant and unequivocal display of hate.”
The rapper’s remarks have reignited debates about accountability on social media platforms and the consequences of hate speech. Ye’s history of antisemitic comments has previously led to severed ties with major brands, including Adidas, Gap, and Balenciaga. As of now, no further action has been announced regarding his X account.
