The main event on Sunday featured a new tournament-style All-Star Game, where 24 All-Stars were divided into four teams of eight players each, drafted by TNT analysts Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, and Candace Parker.
The tournament format saw Kenny’s Young Stars, featuring Anthony Edwards and Jalen Brunson, face off against Chuck’s Global Stars, led by Victor Wembanyama and Nikola Jokic, in the first semifinal. Shaq’s OGs, with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant (who missed the game due to injury), competed against Candace’s Rising Stars, headlined by Spurs rookie Stephon Castle. The winners advanced to a championship game, with the first team to reach 40 points claiming victory. The winning team earned a $1.8 million prize pool, with each player on the championship team receiving $125,000.
The weekend also included the G League Up Next Game, the NBA Legends Brunch, and the National Basketball Retired Players Association awards ceremony. Fans could catch all the action on TNT, truTV, and Max, with additional coverage on NBA TV and ESPN.
In a lighter moment during practice, Stephen Curry wowed spectators with a spectacular backward, no-look half-court shot, showcasing his signature flair and reminding fans why he remains one of the league’s most entertaining players.
