Daytona 500 2025 Faces Weather Delays; What Fans Need to Know
The 67th running of the Daytona 500, scheduled for Sunday, February 16, 2025, faces potential delays due to inclement weather. The race, set to begin at 2 p.m. ET, will be broadcast on Fox, Motor Racing Network, and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. Forecasts predict mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 81-82 degrees Fahrenheit and wind gusts of up to 20 mph at the start. However, the chance of rain increases significantly later in the afternoon, with a 70-81% chance of thunderstorms expected between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET. By 6 p.m., the likelihood of rain drops to less than 10%.
For the Daytona 500 to be considered official, at least 100 of the 200 laps must be completed. Chase Briscoe, who won the pole position, will lead the field, joined by Austin Cindric on the front row. Notable attendees include President Donald Trump, who also attended the 2020 Daytona 500. Defending champion William Byron aims to secure another victory in NASCAR’s most prestigious race.
