Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2; 'Lawless' Brings Crime-Themed Excitement
Fortnite Chapter 6, Season 2, titled “Lawless,” has officially launched, bringing a crime-themed season filled with new content, map changes, and gameplay updates. The season began on February 21, 2025, following the conclusion of Chapter 6, Season 1, which ended at 11 PM PT on February 20. Downtime for the update lasted several hours, with servers coming back online early Friday morning.
The new season introduces a Grand Theft Auto-inspired vibe, featuring train heists, bank robberies, and a revamped map with urban cityscapes. Key locations like Crime City and the Turret Train have been added, alongside new weapons such as the Mammoth Pistol and the return of the Rocket Ram, now reimagined as the Rocket Drill. Dual-wielding weapons, including an SMG and shotgun, adds a fresh dynamic to gameplay.
The Battle Pass for Season 2 includes a mix of original and crossover characters. Midas, a fan-favorite from Chapter 2, returns as Outlaw Midas, while Sub-Zero from Mortal Kombat joins the roster, hinting at potential Mortal Kombat-themed powers and additional characters like Scorpion later in the season. Other skins in the pass, such as Fletcher Kane and Big Dill, have received mixed reviews, with some players criticizing their lack of creativity compared to previous seasons.
New features include “Moments,” which allow players to assign Jam Tracks or Lobby Tracks for specific in-game events, such as dropping from the Battle Bus or achieving a Victory Royale. Additionally, the season introduces a new in-game currency called Dill Bits, a humorous nod to cryptocurrency, though it is purely a fictional element and not tied to real-world crypto.
Season 2 also brings back bosses and enemy NPCs, with Fletcher Kane serving as the primary antagonist. Defeating Kane rewards players with his Mythic Double Down Pistol and the Unstoppable Medallion, which enhances sprint speed and enables a bash attack. Boons, passive buffs introduced in the previous season, return with new styles, offering perks like increased gold earnings and enhanced movement.
The season is set to conclude on May 2, 2025, with Season 3 expected to launch shortly after. While the Battle Pass skins have drawn criticism for their lackluster designs, the season’s gameplay innovations and thematic elements continue to keep Fortnite fresh and engaging for its player base.
