Richard Petty Celebrates Legacy and New Whiskey Partnership Ahead of 2025 Daytona 500
NASCAR legend Richard Petty, known as “The King,” recently made headlines for multiple reasons as the 2025 Daytona 500 approached. The seven-time Daytona 500 winner, alongside his son Kyle Petty, shared a heartfelt moment in the victory lane at Daytona International Speedway on February 16, 2025. The father-son duo, both former NASCAR drivers, appeared on the FOX and Friends morning show to discuss the upcoming race. Richard Petty, dressed in his signature cowboy hat and Legacy Motor Club attire, reflected on the significance of Daytona, where he holds the record for the most wins (seven) in the prestigious event.
In addition to his Daytona 500 appearance, Petty announced a partnership with Sugarlands Distilling Company to release a limited-edition whiskey. The Tennessee straight rye whiskey, part of the Roaming Man collection, pays tribute to Petty’s legendary career. The bottle features his iconic signature and the No. 43, symbolizing his storied legacy in NASCAR. The whiskey, available exclusively in Florida and at Sugarlands’ Gatlinburg distillery, debuted ahead of the Daytona 500, a fitting location given Petty’s historic success at the track. Petty expressed his excitement about the collaboration, calling it a celebration of his family’s memories and a way to connect with fans.
Petty, now 87, remains an ambassador for Legacy Motor Club, the team formerly known as Petty Enterprises. He continues to be a beloved figure in the sport, with fans flocking to see him at events. His enduring popularity and contributions to NASCAR were on full display as he prepared for the 2025 Daytona 500, a race that holds a special place in his heart.
